Speech 2018

David Attenborough says that our native flora and fauna numbers are going down at an alarming speed due to pests. Place traps in sheds bushes and anywhere near pests. Use an ink pad and a tunnel to track down pests check it every 2 or 3 days for stoats, possums, rats etc footprints.

Do everything you can to save our native flora and fauna. Always keep  your dogs on a leash. There are DOC 200’s, doc 150’s and Good Nature traps. Another quote by David Attenborough is that what humans do of the next 50 years determines to all life and fate on the planet.

What else can we do to save our native Flora fauna? Plant more native trees like pohutukawa, hebes, flax and more. Also save more native trees without native trees we wouldn’t have oxygen. Most trees also provide shelter and nesting locations. There will also be more habitats for the native birds. The population of the native   birds will increase. Forests are the earth’s air conditioning system The lungs of the planet.

An example of people doing everything they can to save our flora and fauna is the womens native tree trust. They give out trees for free to help our environment. Nga Manu Waiata is a bit different they trap pests they take their time to help our environment.

We need to encourage more people to trap pests so we can save our native flora and fauna!
